IB Middle Years Programme
The MYP is a rigorous framework that encourages students to make practical connections between their studies and the real world. All students in grades 7-10 are MYP students at Alameda.
The MYP curriculum framework comprises eight subject groups, providing a broad and balanced education for our students. The MYP takes a holistic approach and seeks to develop not only academic skills but also the traits of the IB Learner Profile.
What do MYP students do?
The MYP requires at least 50 hours of teaching time for each subject group in each year of the programme. Students take courses in English, Spanish or Chinese, math, science, Individuals and Societies, visual arts, preforming arts, physical and health education and design.
All eighth-grade students complete a community project and all 10th-graders complete the “personal project,” which is the MYP culmination project of their choosing.
