Dear Pirates

Hello and welcome to Alameda International Jr/Sr High School! It is my extreme privilege and honor to serve as your principal! I am excited to work with our students and the Alameda community to support them to reach their goals and potential. 

While I’m not new to Colorado, I’m certainly not a native from the Centennial state. I grew up in Austria and moved to the US before starting 8th grade. English was not my first language (we still speak German in my family), and experiencing the culture shock of entering the US educational system without a true mastery of English shaped my values and future path. I see the power of language and culture at the root of academic success. Language continued to be a driving force in my life as I completed my undergraduate studies with a focus on modern languages, Spanish and French. When I started my professional career as a secondary Spanish teacher, I never expected to be a lifelong educator. Soon, though, I saw my students’ success as an incredibly motivating force. My favorite moments are when students realize that they can reach the high expectations set of them and that their teacher’s belief in them is real. 

I come to Alameda with twelve years of experience as an assistant principal in Jeffco and Colorado Springs, where I served in diverse communities and schools. Seven of those years were spent at an International Baccalaureate World School that was home to a Middle Years Programme and a Diploma Programme before we brought in the Career-related Programme. I understand the expectations of the International Baccalaureate Organization (IBO), and I look forward to guiding Alameda International in our future collaboration with the IBO. I believe in IB for All and that all our students are IB learners. I always aim to remove visible and invisible barriers to learning through collaboration with our students, families, staff and community. I encourage you to get involved! 

I am incredibly proud to have been selected as the principal at Alameda International, and I look forward to working with all of you! If you see me in the hallway, in the cafeteria, in a classroom or on the athletic field, please stop to chat! I’d love to get to know you and for you to get to know me.
