Chromebook Troubleshooting/Self-Help

Alameda Chromebook Help

Use this document to help troubleshoot your Chromebook.

If at any time you need help, reach out to Mrs. Miller
or the Jeffco Help Desk, contact info in the table below.

Step 1

Restart your device

This will help with a myriad of issues. Closing the lid just puts it to sleep, it does not shut it down properly. Make sure you click shut down in the bottom tray at least once a day.

Won’t Turn On or
Didn’t Charge?

Turn it off completely
and plug it in and leave it charging for a minimum of 20 minutes (up to a few hours if the battery drained fully). Make sure the charging light comes on!  Do not try to power on the device until at least 20 minutes have passed.

When all else fails, you could try to re-set your chromebook.  This won't affect your account in any way, it will just re-set the chromebook to the way it was when you first received it in hopes that any setting that may have it behaving strangely are removed.  Here's how to do it:

JUST A REMINDER:  Do not install any extensions or apps onto your chromebook that are not for school.   Even something as innocent as a photo background can cause your chromebook to not work properly.  DO NOT INSTALL ANY extensions not used for your education.
